We did the sandakphu cultural trek with Out on Odyssey - and it was one of the best trekking experiences I’ve had. I had an incredible experience on the Dayara Bugyal trek with Odyssey in late January this year. From day one, we were blessed with the best weather and clear, breathtaking views. Learning new things during the trek was surprisingly fun and effortless, thanks to our amazing trek leader, Vijeet. Even after a tiring day, we shared endless laughter and joy. What made the trek even more special was the freedom to explore beyond the usual trails, and despite the freezing cold, we couldn't resist stargazing under the crystal-clear skies. The highlight of our journey was the snowfall. We had almost given up hope of seeing snow, but Vijeet's excellent weather prediction skills made sure we experienced the most magical snowfall of our lives, truly the cherry on top of an unforgettable adventure! We recently went on a trek organized by Out on Odyssey led by Vivek (and Team) to Kedarkanta (via Devjani) and I can't say enough good things about the experience. From the very start, the team stood out for their flexibility and attentiveness—they customized the pace of the trek to suit our group perfectly, which made the entire journey so much more enjoyable and stress-free. The guides were not only incredibly knowledgeable but also genuinely warm and friendly, creating a relaxed and encouraging atmosphere throughout. Their temperament and patience really set the tone for the whole trip, and it felt like we were trekking with old friends rather than just a tour company. I went on my first group backpacking trip this august, to the warwan valley and it was the best outdoor experience I have ever had. We had a very small group of just 12 members including the organisers and I am really grateful to have been a part of such a team. We slept under the stars, next to babbling rivers, spotted birds, comets and galaxies together and above all the stories they shared. The food was better than I can ever cook myself. Pancakes, tortillas and Mac and cheese at that altitude with Hyderabadi biryani and friend rice and rotis from Gujjar huts with sabzi we prepared ourselves. The highlights were hot chocolate and coffee. Very grateful to odyssey for starting something of this kind where the thrill of self-reliant trekking meets the security of finding like-minded people full of grit and kindness, who come together and make it happen with such ease.

We planned our days as a team. We navigated, cooked, and moved as an agile, close-knit group. There were no fixed rules, no set expectations. Each of us found our own rhythm—whether it was walking in silence, photographing wild landscapes, writing, or simply lying down, soaking in the moment. There were no forced games. No rigid itineraries. No pressure to enjoy the mountains a certain way. Just the wild, unfiltered joy of being out there. And now, it’s hard to imagine going back to the guided treks of before. This wasn’t just a trek. It was the trip — probably the best I’ve ever had

I went on a backpacking trip to Roopkund with Odyssey and ah! what an experience I had. They showed us the true essence of the outdoors. I am still reeling from the most wonderful trekking experience I could have asked for! Our trek leader, Vivek, was attentive to our thrills, fears and qualms & did a fantastic job in curating a trail that allowed us time to enjoy the mountain air & scenery after a half-day's trek. Anil Bhai & Kishu Bhai went out of their way to spoil us with hearty, healthy food which provided the fuel we needed along our journey. I am not exaggerating when I tell you there were many instances when the thought of getting to eat their food at the next campsite motivated me to keep moving, hospitality remains unmatched - everything they did was performed efficiently & with a genuine smile. The team was able to provide us with a native homestay experience, allowing the entire trek group to immerse themselves in local culture. 5. The safety protocols were clearly communicated from the start, and the team made sure everyone was equipped with proper gear. The availability of first aid kits and emergency communication options was reassuring. 6. The campsites were well-chosen, and the food was better than I expected for a trek of this nature. It was always nutritious and sufficient, delicious, and the catering staff did a great job considering the remote locations.
