Vijeet Shaw
Chief of Adventure & Outdoor Educator
Vijeet is the brain behind Odyssey’s backpacking journeys, from choosing trails and dates to sorting gear lists and building the entire calendar. If it involves backpacks, maps, or remote ridgelines, he’s already ten steps ahead.
With over eight years in the outdoors, Vijeet has led, trained, and mentored young leaders across the Himalayas. He’s known for geeking out over maps, obsessing over gear, and telling stories that never start without a hook.
A certified mountaineer and Wilderness First Responder, he’s seen both the high and hard of the trail — from getting lost in the mountains to diving down a ridge to save someone’s life (and dislocating his own knee in the process).
Growing up near the foothills of Darjeeling, adventure wasn’t a choice, it was a landscape. It shaped him into the kind of leader who believes in hardship, long journeys, and the quiet joy of figuring things out for yourself.
People come back from treks with him tired, inspired, and usually a little more in love with the outdoors.
Vivek Saini
Finance Lead & Outdoor Leader
Vivek left behind a career in finance, only to return to it, this time in trekking boots.
At Odyssey, he leads all things finance while quietly making sure treks don’t fall apart behind the scenes. He also heads out to lead a team every now and then, balancing spreadsheets one week and stormy passes the next.
A certified mountaineer from NIMAS, Vivek has over five years of outdoor experience and a few 6000m peaks behind him. He’s trained trek leaders, survived snow blizzards at 17,000 ft, and built a reputation for getting things done, calmly, quietly, and without fuss.
He believes in solid planning, quiet joy, and the freedom that comes from learning to move through the outdoors on your own.
Nithyam Nachappa
Participant Experience Lead & Outdoor Generalist
Nithyam handles participant experience at Odyssey, from the first registration message to the last trek-day wrap-up. But don’t try pinning him to one thing.
On any given day, you might find him leading a backpacking team, making a fitness video, setting up a landing page, or helping someone fix their gaiters. He’s an all-rounder in the truest sense, the kind of guy who spots problems before they show up.
With over four years of leading teams in the outdoors, a mountaineering certification from NIMAS, and a WFR from NOLS, Nithyam brings both depth and readiness to every trail.
He believes in simplicity, staying grounded, and blending into nature, preferably with a laugh in tow.
